Westminster Abbey, located on the north bank of the River Thames in London, adjacent to the Palace of Westminster, is a Gothic‑style royal Catholic cathedral of the UK. Grand and magnificent, it is a sacred site of the UK and holds a prominent status among the many churches in the country.

image.png

The architecture itself is the pinnacle of Gothic art, and the rose window is a must‑see highlight — composed of 28 large stained glass panels, it remains vibrant in colour after centuries of weathering, perfectly blending religious sanctity with artistic brilliance. The pointed vaults soar upward as if reaching for the heavens; intricate reliefs spread from the columns to the walls, with lifelike depictions of angels and saints. You can follow the guided route and, with the narrator's commentary, understand the craftsmanship behind every detail, or join the abbey's regular activities to immerse yourself in its charm.

✅ Poets' Corner: Memorials to Shakespeare, Dickens, and Jane Austen are all here.

✅ Coronation Chair: Every British king has been crowned on it for the past 700 years! The actual chair is more understated than you'd imagine, but it oozes historical significance.

✅ Tomb of the Unknown Warrior: An unidentified soldier who fell in World War I lies here. Every royal wedding party pays tribute as they pass by — solemn and reverent.

✅ Henry VII's Chapel: So ornate it leaves you speechless! The fan vaulting looks like stone lace suspended in mid‑air — breathtakingly beautiful.
