Autumn Foliage at Seoraksan Mountain: A Dreamy Autumn Rendezvous
In the northeastern part of South Korea lies the renowned Seoraksan Mountain, which becomes a paradise for autumn foliage enthusiasts every autumn. When the autumn breeze gently blows, Seoraksan is painted in vibrant colours by nature, the magical artist, welcoming the most beautiful season of the year.
In late September, the maple leaves at the summit of Seoraksan are the first to sense the arrival of autumn, gradually deepening in colour and kicking off the foliage season. By October, the maple leaves across the mountains blaze like fire, igniting a spectacular "red" frenzy. Seoraksan boasts a rich variety of maple trees, with species such as sweet gum and Japanese maple interweaving to create a unique "maple" landscape with distinct layers and a riot of colours.

The ultimate way to enjoy the autumn foliage is to take the cable car as it ascends slowly. As the cable car rises mid‑air, a picturesque scenery unfolds before your eyes. In the distance, the rolling mountain ranges are adorned with maple leaves in shades of red, orange and yellow, as if nature has knocked over its palette, splashing colours freely. At this moment, as sunlight pours down, the maple leaves glisten with a charming lustre, complementing the peculiar rocks and strange stones in the mountains, creating a breathtakingly beautiful sight.
Upon reaching the observation deck on the mountain and stepping onto the maple foliage trail, it feels like entering a dreamy red world. Above your head are layers upon layers of red leaves, with sunlight filtering through the gaps between branches and leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground. When a gentle breeze blows, the maple leaves rustle softly, as if whispering an ode to autumn. Strolling along the trail, one feels enveloped in red, completely immersed in the scenery, reluctant to leave.

Cheonbuldong Valley is the very essence of autumn foliage viewing at Seoraksan. Within the towering rocky peaks, amidst the V‑shaped canyon, waterfalls, deep pools, red leaves and streams blend together to form a unique and exquisite landscape. Walking along the valley, the sound of babbling water intertwines with the swaying of maple leaves, creating a wonderful autumn symphony. The nearby Sinheungsa Temple, surrounded by maple leaves and mountain ranges, appears exceptionally serene and tranquil. The ancient temple set against the red leaves adds an air of classical elegance and charm.

The beauty of the autumn foliage at Seoraksan is like a dreamy autumn rendezvous, drawing countless visitors to answer the call, immersing themselves in this picturesque scenery and leaving with unforgettable memories.
