Rotterdam
Rotterdam is a city in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands. It is the second largest city in the Netherlands, located in the province of South Holland, on the banks of the Nieuwe Maas. In 2001, Rotterdam was selected as the European Capital of Culture. Rotterdam has its own symphony orchestra, a large congress hall and multiple theatres. The Erasmus Bridge (Erasmusbrug) is a cable-stayed bridge with a total length of 802 metres, connecting the north and south of Rotterdam. It is supported by a 13-metre pylon with a distinctive bend, which gives the bridge its nickname 'The Swan'. The Euromast, built in 1960, was originally 101 metres high; in the 1970s, it was extended by 85 metres to its current height.
