Vung Tau

Vung Tau is the capital of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, a seaside resort southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, surrounded by the sea on three sides. Its landmark is the 32-metre-tall Jesus Christ Statue on Jesus Mountain, from where visitors can climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city and the sea. Back Beach stretches 8 kilometres with fine sand and clear water, making it ideal for swimming and surfing; Front Beach has a laid-back atmosphere dotted with cafes. Vung Tau Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in Vietnam. Must-try local delicacies include Vung Tau crispy rice pancakes (Bánh Khọt), seafood barbecue (lobster, crab, squid), seafood porridge, and coconut ice cream — all fresh and affordable.
