Sarawak
Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia, located in northern Borneo, with its capital Kuching known as the 'Cat City'. It is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Gunung Mulu National Park, famous for its spectacular caves and rainforest ecosystem. Bako National Park offers the chance to spot proboscis monkeys, silver-leaf monkeys, and other rare wildlife. The Sarawak River waterfront is charming, with attractions such as the Waterfront, Fort Margherita, and the Darul Hana Golden Bridge being popular photo spots. In terms of cuisine, Sarawak Laksa has been hailed as 'the breakfast of the gods' by celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, with its broth simmered from over 30 types of spices as highlighted by the Sarawak Tourism Board. Other distinctive local flavours include Kolo Mee, rice wine chicken, layer cake, and three-layer milk tea.
