Margarita Island
Margarita Island is the largest island in Venezuela, located in the Caribbean Sea, and is famously known as the 'Pearl of the Caribbean'. It features stretches of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, making it a world-class resort destination. Popular attractions include Playa El Agua, with its fine sand and well-equipped facilities, ideal for family leisure; and Playa El Yaque, a paradise for kite surfers and windsurfers worldwide. Nature lovers should not miss the Laguna de La Restinga National Park, where you can take a boat through the mangroves and spot flamingos and other rare birds. Historical sites include the Castillo de San Carlos and Castillo de Santa Rosa, bearing witness to the colonial pirate era. The cuisine is dominated by fresh seafood; must-tries include Pescado a la margariteña (Margarita-style fish), Asopado (seafood stew), as well as traditional Venezuelan snacks such as Arepa (corn cake), Cachapa (sweet corn pancake), and desserts like Majarete (coconut milk corn pudding) and candied green papaya.
