Mecca is the holiest city in Islam and the centre of pilgrimage for Muslims worldwide. At its core lies the Grand Mosque (Al-Masjid al-Haram), which houses the sacred Kaaba (the House of God), around which millions of pilgrims perform circumambulation each year. Nearby sacred sites include the Cave of Hira (where the first revelation was received), Mount Arafat, and the Mina Valley. The Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower is one of the tallest clock towers in the world. Non-Muslims are strictly forbidden from entering the city of Mecca.
