City introduction

Budapest

Budapest is the capital of Hungary, known as the "Pearl of the Danube", formed by the merger of the twin cities Buda and Pest separated by the Danube River. Buda on the west bank is hilly, home to Buda Castle, Fisherman's Bastion (a romantic white observation deck overlooking the entire city) and Matthias Church (with stunning colourful tiled roof). Pest on the east bank is bustling, with the Hungarian Parliament Building (a Gothic landmark with spectacular night views), St. Stephen's Basilica, Heroes' Square and Váci Street lively and vibrant. As the "City of Spas", the Széchenyi Thermal Bath is a must-visit.

For food, must-tries include Goulash soup, Chicken Paprikash, fried dough Lángos, sweet Chimney Cake, paired with Hungarian "Bull's Blood" red wine, offering a unique flavour.
