Liverpool, formerly known as Lei Wu Bou in Cantonese, is a famous port city in the northwest of England. It is one of the five metropolitan boroughs of Merseyside and is governed by Liverpool City Council. The commercial district is concentrated in the area surrounding Castle Street, Dale Street, and Old Hall Street, with many roads in this area still following the medieval layout. With a development history spanning over three centuries, this area is considered one of the city's most significant architectural sites. The oldest building in the district is the Grade I listed Liverpool Town Hall, located at the end of Castle Street. Dating back to 1754, it is renowned as one of the most lavishly decorated municipal buildings in England.
