Nuremberg is a major city in northern Bavaria, rich in medieval atmosphere. The Imperial Castle overlooks the old town; the Beautiful Fountain at the Main Market features a lucky ring; St. Lawrence Church and St. Sebaldus Church boast magnificent architecture; the old town, rebuilt after World War II, retains its complete urban fabric. The local cuisine is famous for Nuremberg sausages (small and juicy, served with sauerkraut) and gingerbread (Lebkuchen). Its Christmas market is one of the most renowned in Germany.
