Taitung is located in southeastern Taiwan, bordered by the Pacific Ocean (Philippine Sea) to the east, and separated from Pingtung County and Kaohsiung City by the Central Mountain Range to the south and west, and adjacent to Hualien County to the north. Due to its mountainous and coastal terrain, the area boasts abundant natural resources, including several natural and cultural conservation areas. Local specialties include dried bonito from the coastal areas, sugar apples from the plains, and tea, pineapples, daylilies, and roselle from the mountainous regions. Taitung’s rich agricultural abundance has fostered unique dietary habits and festive customs that are deeply integrated with local culture. Festivals such as the Taitung Food Festival, the Valencia Scented Citron Festival, the Amis Music Festival, and the East Coast Land Arts Festival: Moonlight Sea Concert are held here.
