Yunlin County

Yunlin is located in the south-central part of western Taiwan, at the northernmost tip of the Chianan Plain. As an agricultural county spanning 20 townships, Yunlin boasts natural and质朴 rural landscapes and得天独厚的 agricultural products. With its geographical advantages of mountains and sea, it has nurtured a variety of local agricultural and specialty foods, such as Gukeng coffee, Taixi clams, Kouhu horse clams and Taiwan tilapia, Douliu pomelo, Xiluo soy sauce, Dapi sauerkraut, Beigang peanuts and sesame oil, among others. Each represents the most authentic flavour of Yunlin and serves as the ultimate souvenir that visitors must bring back. In addition, Yunlin is home to famous temples, attracting tens of thousands of worshippers every year. Of course, Yunlin’s deep cultivation of cultural industries cannot be overlooked. Taiwan’s puppet theatre originated from Yunlin, gaining worldwide fame and earning Yunlin County the reputation of being the hometown of puppet theatre.
