

Taoyuan County
Taoyuan City, commonly known as Taoyuan and abbreviated as 'Tao', was upgraded from Taoyuan County in 2014. It is located in northwestern Taiwan, bordering the Taiwan Strait to the west, Yilan County to the east, New Taipei City to the north, and Hsinchu to the south. It ranks fifth among all counties and cities in Taiwan. 'Northern Taoyuan' is predominantly inhabited by Hokkien communities, including Taoyuan City, Gueishan District, Bade District, Luzhu District, Daxi District, and Dayuan District. With Taoyuan City as its core, the population is approximately 1.07 million, covering an area roughly equivalent to Taoyuan District and Daxi Street of Daxi District during the Japanese colonial period.
