City introduction

Nagasaki City

Nagasaki City is a city located in the western part of Kyushu, Japan. Nagasaki is more like a lively town than a crowded city, with many places to visit and many activities to enjoy. Situated on the western side of Kyushu, close to the Asian continent, Nagasaki was a place opened to foreign trade during Japan's long period of national isolation. This vibrant city built on hills is known for its colourful, charming and exotic atmosphere. The Nagasaki Lantern Festival celebrations, Dejima and Glover Garden were once the residences of the earliest foreign merchants to arrive in Japan. Enjoy panoramic views at Suwa Shrine, and pay your respects at Nagasaki Peace Park.
