

Mine City
Mine City is located in the central part of Yamaguchi Prefecture, a mountain town surrounded by mountains, known for Akiyoshidai Cave and limestone geological landscape. Akiyoshidai Cave is one of the largest limestone caves in Japan, with fantastic stalactites and stalagmites inside, stretching about 10 kilometres, with some areas open to visitors. Akiyoshidai is the largest karst plateau in Japan, with white limestone and grasslands complementing each other, offering different scenery in each season. Mine Onsen has mild and moisturising water quality, suitable for healing. Ancient temples such as Shofukuji and Ryufukuji have a long history. The cuisine features Akiyoshidai mutton, with rich flavours in hot pot and barbecue; Mine ramen has a rich soy sauce broth; Yamaguchi wagyu, sea bream dishes, and chestnut manju are sweet and delicious, worth trying.
