Takaoka

Takaoka City is an industrial and artistic hub in the Hokuriku region, the hometown of Fujiko F. Fujio, creator of Doraemon, with cartoon bronze statues scattered throughout the city. Takaoka Kojo Park is a famous cherry blossom spot, and Zuiryuji Temple features exquisite Japanese architecture (a National Treasure). The sunset at Fushiki Port is spectacular. Takaoka is renowned for its top-tier lacquerware and metal casting crafts. The local cuisine is famous for white shrimp (Toyama specialty), firefly squid, conveyor belt sushi, Takaoka ramen, and soy sauce flavoured dango.
