Izu City is located in the central part of the Izu Peninsula, known for its hot springs and coastal resorts. Shuzenji is the oldest hot spring town in Izu, with a serene atmosphere featuring bamboo groves and ancient temples. The rugged sea cliffs and suspension bridge of Jōgasaki Coast offer spectacular ocean views. The Izu Plateau is rich in artistic ambiance, with numerous art museums and galleries. Atagawa Onsen and Itō Onsen are renowned for their high-quality hot spring waters.

In terms of cuisine, Izu seafood is highly prized — kinmedai (sashimi / simmered), Ise lobster, fresh abalone, and fugu (in winter) are exceptionally delicious. Izu sakura shrimp, onsen tamago (hot spring eggs), mikan (mandarin orange) desserts, and wasabi dishes are refreshing and tasty.
