Located at the southern foot of Nasu Highlands in Tochigi Prefecture, Nasukarasuyama is a mountain town enveloped by the greenery of the Yamizo Mountain Range. The core attraction, Karasuyama Castle Ruins, was the site of the Nasu clan's residence in the 15th century, with remaining stone walls, earthen ramparts, and ancient cedars that evoke the atmosphere of the Warring States period. Ryumon Falls, standing 20 metres high, offers particularly beautiful views amid fresh greenery in early summer and vibrant autumn foliage in late autumn. Yakumo Shrine, with its long history, is a popular local site for prayer. The Nasu Onsen and Shiobara Onsen areas in the city feature high-quality hot springs, ideal for relaxing and relieving travel fatigue. Local cuisine is represented by Nasu Wagyu steak (which melts in the mouth), handmade soba noodles, mountain vegetable country dishes, highland milk ice cream, and wines aged in cave cellars, all rich in natural flavours.
