Katori City
Katori City is located in the northeastern part of Chiba Prefecture, renowned for Katori Shrine and the water town of Sawara (Little Edo). Katori Shrine is one of Japan's five major shrines, with dense forests and solemn architecture, making it a power spot. Sawara preserves old streets from the Edo to Meiji periods, with traditional merchant houses lining the Onogawa River. At the Mizugoshi Sawara Iris Park (May–June), 1.5 million irises are in full bloom. Local cuisine includes Sawara unagi (eel) rice, Katori torayaki (Japanese sweet), red bean desserts, fresh river shrimp, and traditional rustic dishes, all worth trying.
