Hokuto City is located in the central part of Oshima Subprefecture in Hokkaido, and it is the earliest region in Hokkaido where rice cultivation began. The core landscape is the Kijihiki Highland Observation Deck, offering a panoramic view of Hakodate Bay, Ono Plain, and Mount Komagatake. In spring, the weeping cherry blossoms at Hojuji Temple and the cherry blossom avenues in the city are dazzlingly charming, while in autumn, the autumn leaves at Hachirogata Park are ablaze with colour. As a major hub for agriculture, livestock, and fisheries, local delicacies include Hokuto rice, seafood from the Tsugaru Strait, apple pies, and various dairy products, all of which are fresh, sweet, and rich in flavour.
