Philip Island
Phillip Island is an island located off the south-central coast of Victoria, southeastern Australia, approximately 140 kilometres (87 miles) southeast of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria[1]. Its name derives from Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales. Because the coastal area on the southeastern side of the Summerland Peninsula at the western end of the island is the primary habitat of little penguins in Victoria, it is a renowned tourist attraction with an annual visitor flow exceeding 3.5 million. Therefore, Phillip Island is often translated as 'Penguin Island' by Chinese-language media.
