Tasmania is an island state in southern Australia, often called 'the Edge of the World'. Its capital Hobart is home to Salamanca Place and the boldly avant-garde MONA Museum. Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park is one of the world's top ten most beautiful bays; Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair form a stunning wilderness landscape. This is the home of wombats and wallabies. The local cuisine is renowned for Tasmanian oysters, smoked salmon, black truffles, apple cider, and lavender ice cream.
