Nanchong City
Nanchong is a historic and cultural city along the Jialing River, known as the 'Fruit City'. Must-visit attractions include Langzhong Ancient City (one of China's four great ancient cities, rich in Three Kingdoms culture, unique Feng Shui culture, and well-preserved Ming and Qing architecture), Zhu De's Hometown (a classic red tourism site to pay tribute to revolutionary ancestors), and Lingyun Mountain (a Taoist sacred site with spectacular grotto statues). The local cuisine is characterised by northern Sichuan flavours. Langzhong Zhang Fei beef jerky is dry, fragrant and chewy; Baoning vinegar is a treasured condiment; Nanchang rice noodles are smooth and savoury; northern Sichuan cold noodles are sour and spicy to whet the appetite; and guokui stuffed with cold noodles offers a crispy exterior and soft interior – authentic street food can be found in every alley.
