Xianyang (Shaanxi)
Xianyang is the ancient capital of Xianyang, facing Xi'an across the Wei River, and is an important birthplace of Qin and Han culture. Core attractions include Qianling Mausoleum (the joint burial site of Emperor Gaozong of Tang and Empress Wu Zetian, famous for the Wordless Stele and the Sixty-One Vassal Statues), Maoling Mausoleum (the tomb of Emperor Wu of Han, a pinnacle of Western Han stone carving art, with the stone sculptures of Huo Qubing's tomb being awe-inspiring), Xianyang Museum (rich in Qin and Han relics), and Yuanjia Village (a Guanzhong folk experience destination with a variety of delicacies). The local cuisine focuses on authentic Guanzhong flavours: biangbiang noodles are wide and chewy, roujiamo is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and zenggao is soft, sticky, and sweet; Qianxian tofu pudding and Wugong qihua noodles are hearty and rich in the rustic style of the northwest. Yuanjia Village offers a one-stop experience of various Guanzhong snacks.
