Baoji City, historically known as Chencang, is the birthplace of Zhou and Qin civilisations and the 'Hometown of Bronze Ware'. The characters 'China' (Zhongguo) on the He Zun vessel originated here. Popular attractions include Famen Temple (housing the finger relic of the Buddha, a masterpiece of Tang Dynasty Buddhist art), Taibai Mountain (the main peak of the Qinling Mountains, with snow in June, a prime spot for hiking and hot springs), Baoji Bronze Ware Museum (housing national treasures such as the He Zun), and Guanshan Grassland. The local cuisine features authentic flavours of West Shaanxi: Qishan minced noodles are thin, chewy, sour, spicy, and aromatic; Baoji biangbiang noodles are firm and tangy; tofu pudding with soaked flatbread paired with Guokui is a standard local breakfast; and other speciality noodles include vinegar noodles and blood noodles.
