Chenzhou City
Chenzhou City was known as Linyi in ancient times. The character 'Chen' is unique to this place, serving as the gateway to southern Hunan. Popular attractions include Dongjiang Lake (misty Xiaodongjiang, where morning fog creates a fairyland-like scene, and is the origin of Dongjiang fish), Gaoyi Ridge (unique Danxia landform with red rocks and green waters, a paradise for hiking and photography), Mangshan National Forest Park (Little Zhangjiajie of Hunan, with primeval forests and waterfalls), and Yangtian Lake Great Grassland. The local cuisine features Dongjiang fish (steamed or pan-fried), Kanrou rice noodle soup (fresh and rich in ingredients), Mangshan bacon (salty and fragrant), and Qifengdu fish noodles (sour and spicy, appetising), showcasing the flavours of southern Hunan.
