City introduction

Ganzhou

Ganzhou is the cradle of the Hakka people, the source of the thousand-li Gan River, and a museum of Song Dynasty heritage. Popular attractions include Tongtian Rock (the first grotto south of the Yangtze River with Tang and Song dynasty stone carvings), Hakka Culture City (an immersive experience of Hakka folk customs), Yugu Terrace (a site inscribed by poet Xin Qiji, offering a panoramic view of the Gan River), and Ruijin Republic Cradle Scenic Area (a red tourism landmark). The local cuisine is dominated by Hakka dishes: Three-Cup Chicken with rich soy sauce flavour, Hakka stuffed tofu crispy on the outside and tender inside, Gannan navel oranges sweet and juicy, fish cakes bouncy and springy, and mugwort rice cakes soft and glutinous — all showcasing the hearty essence of Hakka food.
