Guangzhou

Guangzhou City, commonly known as Guangzhou, abbreviated as Guang or Sui, also known as the City of Rams, is the capital of Guangdong Province of the People's Republic of China, a sub-provincial city and one of the first batch of coastal open cities. Guangzhou serves as the foreign trade centre and comprehensive transport hub of Mainland China and Guangdong, and is one of the first-tier cities in Mainland China as well as one of the core cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Guangzhou has a history of over 2,200 years of city establishment, being the birthplace and thriving ground of Lingnan culture, and was listed as one of the first batch of National Historical and Cultural Cities of China in 1982. Due to its location at the mouth of the Pearl River and the centre of the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou enjoys a very advantageous geographical position, acting as the core city of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as a pivot city of the "Belt and Road" initiative, earning the reputation as China's "Southern Gateway" to the world.

Guangzhou is an International Garden City, an Excellent Tourism City of China, and a National Historical and Cultural City of China. Guangzhou currently has two National 5A-level tourist attractions: Chimelong Tourist Resort and Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area. National 4A-level tourist attractions include Canton Tower, Beijing Road Cultural Tourism Area, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Museum of the Nanyue King, Guangzhou Zoo, Huanghuagang Park, Yuexiu Park, Guangzhou Martyrs' Memorial Garden, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Grandview Mall, South China Botanical Garden, etc. The "New Eight Sights of the City of Rams" are: Tower Shining over New City, Pearl River Flowing with Light, Verdant Mountains Overlapping Layers, Elegance of Yuexiu, Fragrance of Ancient Ancestral Hall, Scenery of Liwan, Splendour of Science City, and Evening Songs of the Wetlands.
