Travellers planning a trip to Busan will find plenty of coastal excitement as the city hosts a major maritime celebration. The 14th Korea International Marine Leisure Week (KIMA WEEK 2026) officially launches on the 30th of July at Dadaepo Beach in Saha-gu, bringing a wide array of water sports and cultural events to the region.

Co-hosted annually by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Busan Metropolitan City Government, this major initiative aims to expand public access to marine leisure activities while invigorating the local marine tourism industry and associated sectors. By spreading marine leisure culture, the organising bodies intend to broaden the growth foundation for Busan's tourism economy.

Festival Schedule and Main Venues

Following the opening ceremony and cultural performances at Dadaepo Beach on the 30th of July, festival activities will continue across major beaches and venues in Busan through November.

Throughout August, visitors can participate in diverse marine leisure programmes—including surfing, yachting, and cruises—at key locations such as Dadaepo, Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong-gu, and Haeundae.

Featured Programmes at KIMA Beach

As the primary venue for the event, Dadaepo Beach will feature a specially organised KIMA BEACH zone.

Visitors and local citizens engaging with the festival can experience:

*   Marine leisure experience booths

*   Flea markets offering local goods

*   Outdoor film screenings

*   Dedicated photo zones for travellers

Related Events and Industry Growth

Alongside water activities, the festival incorporates a series of connected events running sequentially. These include the National Beach Rowing Competition, academic conferences, idea competitions, and a National Assembly policy debate.

Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Vice Minister Nam Jae-heon noted that the event serves to highlight the appeal of marine leisure and outline the future of the nation's marine tourism. The ministry aims to support marine leisure tourism so that it establishes itself as a core growth engine for the country.
