Works on Paper Open for Viewing in Rotterdam

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam holds a print collection containing roughly 21,000 drawings and 73,000 prints. The collection spans European printmaking and drawing from the fifteenth century to the present day. Featured artists include Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Paul Cézanne, Käthe Kollwitz, Yayoi Kusama, and Pablo Picasso, alongside works by lesser-known artists.
Visiting the Study Room

Because works on paper are sensitive to light, they are displayed only for limited periods. The Prints and Drawings Study Room, located on the third floor of the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, provides public access through structured visiting options.

Weekday consultation: Visitors can request to consult specific works from Monday to Friday by emailing artservices@boijmans.nl. Requests must include inventory numbers and a summary of the research purpose. Processing requires around two weeks, with larger requests taking longer to prepare.
Weekend visits: On weekends, the Study Room opens to all Depot visitors, featuring changing displays of drawings and prints inside vitrines.
Visitors planning to enter the venue must book a time slot in advance to access the Depot facilities.
