Sentosa's Big Upgrade: New Transport System, Revamped Beaches & a Striking New Landmark

The government has kicked off the first stage of the Greater Sentosa Master Plan – a long-term overhaul spanning both Sentosa and Pulau Brani that aims to turn the area into an even bigger hangout for visitors in the years ahead.
The first phase will see a new transport hub built to better connect Sentosa and Pulau Brani, with room for future lifestyle and hospitality developments around it – such as a Downtown South resort on Pulau Brani once port operations move out. The Sentosa Express monorail, which has ferried visitors to the island since 2007, is also set to be replaced, making trips between the mainland and Sentosa smoother.
Beyond transport, the island itself is due for an upgrade. Its beaches will be spruced up with new coastal protection features, letting visitors keep enjoying the shoreline while guarding against rising sea levels. New attractions are also in the works, including the Imbiah Canopy – a striking new landmark on Mount Imbiah that will serve as a gateway to nearby heritage sites and nature trails.
More details on the wider plan are expected later this year. For now, one thing is clear: by 2045, Greater Sentosa is projected to draw around 5.3 million international visitors every year.
