Set among the leafy suburb of Benowa, wedged between Surfers Paradise’s lively shoreline and the green hinterland peaks, the RACV Royal Pines Resort pairs a homely feel with genuine luxury. Crowned a Best of Queensland Experience 2026, the multi-award-winning resort truly caters to everyone: a championship golf course, a luxury day spa (a Gold winner in its own right), a water park, eight bars and restaurants, five tennis courts and 333 freshly refurbished rooms and suites. Days here have a habit of slipping away faster than a poolside cocktail.

Accommodation

Check-in is smooth, efficient and welcoming. The rooms are generous and well finished, and have just come out of a recent refurbishment.

Superior King and Twin Rooms suit couples and pairs looking for smart, comfortable digs. Mountain View Rooms and Deluxe Mountain View Rooms sleep up to four across two double beds and frame sweeping hinterland views — perfect for a slow morning coffee. Higher up, Executive Rooms on floors 17 to 19 offer extra space and entry to the private 21st-floor executive lounge.

For something more indulgent, the Spa Suites are the real drawcard, with split-level living and sleeping areas, spa baths and outlooks over the golf course and skyline. Executive Spa Suites go further again, while the Level 22 Suites top the range with panoramic views and marble finishes. Families are well served by the two-bedroom studios and suites on Level 4, which come with balcony access and optional rollaway beds.

One Spa

It’s the experience that has locals and visitors booking return visits before they’ve even checked out. One Spa is a Gold winner in the Best of Queensland Experiences — and the moment you walk through the door, you’ll see why. Set on the ground floor, it feels a world away from the resort’s everyday buzz, with soaring ceilings, immaculate interiors and warm, expert staff. Treatment rooms are refined and luxurious, and the facilities include an infrared sauna, Geisha tub, Lusar and Vichy showers, a four-seater spa, a Somadome meditation pod and an O2 breathing chair. Before or after a treatment, sink into the relaxation lounge with its pillow-style recliners, herbal teas and views over calm waterways and the golf course.

The menu is thorough and considered. Massages span bespoke full-body sessions that melt away tension, a signature volcanic pumice exfoliation ritual, and a seasonal full-body treatment using warm aromatic oils. Facials and skincare use the LaGaia UNEDITED line, a luxury range built around powerful skin and wellness results. Book well ahead — One Spa is popular with both guests and the public for good reason — and keep an eye out for mid-week treatment specials.

Golf

Golf is in the resort’s DNA. The 27-hole championship course, redesigned by acclaimed architect Graham Marsh, previously hosted the Australian PGA Championship and remains one of the east coast’s most respected layouts. Three distinct nines keep things interesting: the Blue nine tests with deep bunkers and undulating greens, while the Green and Gold nines combine into the celebrated 18-hole championship configuration, winding past scenic lakes and manicured fairways. A state-of-the-art driving range and on-site pro shop help you sharpen your game, with lessons for beginners and seasoned players alike. Non-golfers won’t struggle to fill the time while you’re on the fairways — though you might return to find them reluctant to surrender their poolside lounger.

Family Friendly

Travelling with kids? Royal Pines has them covered. The ever-popular water park boasts three waterslides and a toddler pool, set beside the lagoon pool so parents can keep an easy eye on the action. A dedicated playground features a giant inflatable jumping pillow and rope-climb structures that will keep little ones busy for hours. Family Suites and two-bedroom studios on Level 4 deliver the space families actually need — generous layouts, flexible bedding and balconies that drink in the resort views. It’s a set-up that lets parents finally relax, which is really the whole point.

Leisure and Activities

Beyond the spa and the pool, there’s plenty for guests who can’t switch off or love to break a sweat. Five tennis courts welcome players of all levels (pre-booking is recommended), and the fully equipped gym covers cardio, free weights and resistance machines. For those after membership, One Lifestyle memberships run on one, three, six or 12-month terms. The outdoor lagoon pool is a genuine highlight — a tropical centrepiece ringed by palms and timber decking, complete with the Arika Pool Bar & Terrace serving light meals and drinks daily from 10am to sunset. With several bars and restaurants on site, there’s always somewhere for a drink and a bite, whatever the mood. Mornings begin at Kalinda, where a generous hot buffet from 6:30am sets you up for the day — the fresh pastry bar is a firm favourite.

Japanese restaurant Arakawa takes an immersive approach to its craft, with dark tones, vivid murals and meticulous plating framing a menu of hand-crafted sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki, plus intimate tatami tables bookable for special occasions. Amici brings a vibrant Mediterranean-inspired menu to a bright, spacious dining room with its own bar and outdoor seating, open Thursday to Monday. For a casual bite overlooking the greens, head to Tee’s Clubhouse, or grab a cold drink at the Hyrate Bar or pool bar.
