The Medieval Market of Guadarrama — the oldest in the sierra — returns from 31 July to 2 August 2026.
Running every year since 1999, its pedigree makes it the longest-standing medieval market in the region. Just a 45-minute drive from Madrid, the market takes place this weekend — Friday 31 July through Sunday 2 August. Organised by Guadarrama's local development department and MST Eventos, the festivities unfold across the Plaza Mayor, Calle Alfonso Senra and the Municipal Park, running from 6pm Friday until 11pm Sunday.
Dozens of artisan stalls will fill the streets, offering handmade soaps, leather goods, silver jewellery, glasswork, beads, gifts and much more. To complete the medieval atmosphere, the crafts are joined by lively street entertainment — parades, storytelling, circus acts, live music, and costumed characters including jugglers, genies and noble ladies roaming the crowds.
Guadarrama sits at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range northwest of Madrid, at nearly 1,000 metres above sea level, meaning summer temperatures here are noticeably cooler than in the capital. It makes an ideal day trip for escaping Madrid's summer heat — and the medieval market is the perfect excuse to discover this charming mountain town.
