Countdown to Brisbane 2032: Gold Coast Hosts Trec for Rec Community Walk at Pizzey Park
Marking exactly six years until the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Gold Coast is hosting its annual Trec for Rec community walk on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Pizzey Park in Miami.
Organised with support from the City of Gold Coast, this inclusive event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities for a day centred on connection, wellbeing, and active living. Attendees can take part in either a 5-kilometre or 10-kilometre walk around the scenic Pizzey Park precinct, with both distances designed to be accessible to everyone from seasoned walkers to families looking for a fun day out.
Beyond the walk itself, the event offers a lively festival atmosphere with hands-on activities run by community partners. Visitors can try a range of adaptive and inclusive sports, including wheelchair basketball, rugby skills sessions, putt putt golf, and boccia. Organisers say the activities are an excellent way for people to discover adaptive sports, sample new experiences, and celebrate the strength and diversity of the local community.
With the Brisbane 2032 Games on the horizon, Trec for Rec also serves as an early celebration of the Olympic and Paralympic spirit, championing the values of participation, inclusion, and community connection.
The event runs from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Registration costs $25 per person. Pizzey Park is located on Bardon Avenue in Miami, with public transport recommended via Translink. Limited parking is available on site.
