The 2026 Dadaocheng Summer Festival kicks off on July 25 at Dadaocheng Pier and Yanping Riverside Park. This year, the Taipei City Department of Tourism has partnered with Sony Pictures for the very first time, bringing the beloved superhero Spiderman to the historic Dadaocheng district. The headline attractions are two 20-minute combined fireworks and drone shows — one on opening night (July 25) and one on closing night (August 15), both at 8:00 PM.

Ahead of the festival launch, the Dadaocheng neighbourhood has already been transformed with Spiderman-themed installations. A towering 9-metre-tall Spiderman figure stands at Danwu Gate 5 Plaza, while a 180-metre waterfront light corridor runs along the riverbank. On Dihua Street, a 4-metre Spiderman strikes his signature upside-down pose at the historic 'Ten Connected Buildings,' and an interactive 'Retro Upside-Down House' installation blends the superhero with vintage Taipei streetscapes — perfect for photo-hungry fans.

In addition to the two headline shows, a bonus 8-minute themed fireworks display will light up the sky on August 5 at 8:00 PM, featuring creative shaped fireworks, multi-core bursts, and long-hanging willow-style effects for a richer, more layered night sky. Live music performances by indie acts including Wendy Wander and Sweet John will bookend each fireworks show, while a local music concert and IP-themed activities take over Yongle Plaza on the afternoon of August 1.
For those looking to avoid the crowds at Dadaocheng, a secret viewing spot has recently gone viral on Threads: the Air Force Sanyi Village in Sanchong, New Taipei City, just across the Dahan River. The cultural park offers a more open, unobstructed view of the fireworks while retaining the quiet charm of a historic military dependents' village. On July 25, Sanyi Village will also host a flea market, live acoustic guitar performances, fire dance shows, and food trucks. Visitors who purchase a postcard at Xiaoya Study or sign up for the 'Fireworks Cyanotype Project' at Jingtong Photo Studio can access the rooftop for prime fireworks viewing.

With heavy crowds expected on opening night, Taipei City Police will implement traffic controls around the Dadaocheng area starting the afternoon of July 25, with flexible vehicle restrictions from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Certain flood gates, elevated ramps, and bridge pedestrian routes will also be adjusted. Visitors are strongly advised to take the MRT to Beimen, Daqiaotou, Shuanglian, or Zhongshan stations and walk to the venue to avoid congestion and parking hassles.
